Our guides help people make decisions that matter — whether to trust someone they met online, whether a listing is real, whether a photo has been stolen. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
How we research
- Primary sources first. Tool features, menu paths and policies are checked against each provider's own help pages. Safety guidance and statistics come from official bodies such as the FTC, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and the U.S. Copyright Office, with the year of the data stated.
- Sources are listed. Every guide ends with a "Sources & further reading" section so you can verify what we say.
- We flag uncertainty. Interfaces change often. Where a menu name varies by app version or region, or a provider's documentation is unclear, we say so instead of guessing.
- No invented experience. We don't publish fabricated tests, testimonials, user stories or quotes. Worked examples are clearly labeled as hypothetical.
- No prices we can't verify. Pricing changes frequently, so we describe cost models (free, subscription, credits) and point you to the provider's own pricing page.
How we choose what to recommend
We recommend the tool that best fits the task, and we present free tools first wherever they can do the job. Paid services are recommended only where they do something free tools can't — for example, connecting a photo to names and profiles in a people-search database. We describe the limitations and privacy trade-offs of every tool we cover, including the ones we earn money from.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows when it was published and when it was last updated. We review guides when a tool we cover changes significantly, and on a regular schedule otherwise. If you spot an error, email info@eyetin.com with the page and the issue; confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the update date is changed.
Advertising and affiliate links
eyetin.com is funded by display advertising (Google AdSense) and a small number of affiliate links. When a page contains an affiliate link, it carries a disclosure near the top, and the link is marked rel="sponsored". Affiliate links are limited to pages where a paid service is genuinely relevant, and most of our guides contain none at all.
Advertisers and affiliate partners do not see, review or approve our content before publication, and commercial relationships never determine which tools we rank first.
Safety and responsible use
Reverse image and face search can be misused to track or harass people. Our guides are written for self-protection, verification and fact-checking. We explain how to remove your own images from face search engines, we do not provide instructions for identifying private individuals for harassment, and we point readers who are in danger or have lost money to official reporting channels rather than to paid products.
